Because the Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the hottest smartphones on the market today, it gets a lot of attention. The fact that the specs for the device are very impressive and make it a high end device, consumers want to be able to do as much as possible with the device to make it a very good overall experience.

With more streaming content available these days than ever before it will not take you long to look into putting movies or television shows on your device so that you can watch them on the bus, subway or when you are just lying around relaxing.

Let's look at how to get these movies onto your Samsung Galaxy S3

If you are not familiar with ripping DVDs, you might want to do a simple Google Search to familiarize yourself with the process before continuing on with these steps. In order to rip your DVD to the correct format for the Samsung Galaxy S3, you will need a program called Ultimate DVD Converter. With this program you can rip entire DVDs formatted for your device without any quality loss.

This process will work for the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Tab, Nexus, Note and more.

    1. First you are going to want to launch the DVD Converter program on your computer.
      To add a DVD
      • Drag and drop the DVD disc icon on the desktop to the running program. You can also complete this step from the FILE menu, by choosing LOAD DVD. Remember: The default for the program is to only read the DVD main feature so a menu or any other features will be left off with the movie starting right away. You can import the whole DVD by going to PREFERENCE and select ALL TITLES from the LOAD CONTENTS in a DVD under the CONVERT TAB.

    2. Next, you can choose the Galaxy S3 Compatible format, then you are going to want to select the video format that you want to use. You can choose from DivX, MPEG4, H.264, or H.263. MPEG4 is always going to be recommended and is widely used throughout the web for DVD conversion, as it works the best on handheld devices.
Now you can go to the FORMAT icon, to to COMMON VIDEO and select MP4. Take a look at the other options that are available and choose the ones that fit your preferences. When using the OPTIONS you can fine tune your selections in order to maximize your DVD quality in Samsung Galaxy S3 format. Note: one option you might want to select is the 1080x720 HD resolution.
    3. Now you can start ripping your DVD. Click CONVERT and the DVD will start to convert through the program. it will take a minute or two so grab a cold one and it should be ready by the time you get back.
    4. Now you should be ready to put the ripped DVD onto your Samsung Galaxy S3. Take a minute to preview the file on your PC to make sure everything went ok. Once you have determined that it has converted correctly, then connect your device so that it is recognized by your PC and you will be able to COPY and PASTE your converted MPEG4 file to your Samsung Galaxy S3.

Depending on how much room you have you can do this a couple of times and load your device with some entertainment. Once your memory gets full, you will have to delete the files in order to add anything new.
    Good luck!

Wow, very useful. I had not even thought about putting DVD's on a smartphone! Does the S3 also have TV capabilities or other streaming options?

Wow, what a bunch of outstanding information. I just wondered about the battery though; is there enough battery capability on the S3 to watch a full movie and still use for a while?

You know how it goes with battery life and anything involving extended use of the device's display. On low brightness you might be able to squeak it out, but it is going to come down to giving it a try!
