Backing Up Applications:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Access the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Backup and reset". NOTE: you need to be logged in to a Google account in order to back up your applications. If you need to add one, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
- If necessary, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Contact Backup
Backing Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Contacts"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Merge accounts"
- Select "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung"
- Log in to your Google or Samsung account if necessary
Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- Tap the "Contacts" icon while viewing a home screen
- Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Press the "Menu" button and tap "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card". NOTE: write down the name of the created backup file, so that you can easily restore it next time
- Tap "OK"
Media File Backup
Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- While on a home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Open "My Files"
- Tap "All files" > "Device storage"
- If you intend on backing up all your files, press the "Menu" key, tap "Select all" and skip to step 6
- Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files and folders
- Tap the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right area of the screen
- Select "Copy", or "Move" if you wish to avoid creating duplicates
- Tap "SD memory card"
- Navigate to the desired folder
- Tap "Paste here" (or "Move here")
Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your Samsung Galaxy Ace Style and computer via USB
- On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to where the media files are stored on your smartphone
- Copy the desired files and paste them in the backup location on your computer's hard drive
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone
Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first two steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Open the Internet browser on your computer and visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on the Mac
- Establish a connection between the computer and the Galaxy Ace Style via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down on the smartphone, and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Next, mark the "Media device" check box
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the check box next to "Music", "Photo" and any other type of file you wish to back up. Alternatively, click "Select all items"
- Click "Backup"
- After the process is done, safely disconnect your smartphone
