NOTE: To learn how you can back up your data on the Galaxy Core Prime, head down to this thread
Restore Apps:
- Log in to the Samsung or Google account used for the backup
- Access the "Settings" menu and swipe to "User and Backup"
- Tap "Accounts" and select "Samsung" or "Google"
- Tap your "email address" and tap "Sync all"
- Press "Back" to return to the "User and Backup" menu
- Tap "Backup and reset", then mark and clear the check box associated with "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
Restore Contacts
Restore Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Sign in to your Google or Samsung account
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google" depending on the type of account used for the initial backup
- Tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
- Mark the "Sync Contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
Restore Contacts from the SD Card:
- Open the "Contacts" app and access the "Contacts" tab
- Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
- Select an account and load the vCard file to restore it
Restore Media Files
From the Phone's Storage:
- Open the apps drawer and launch "My Files"
- Tap "All files" > "SD card"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Check the box(es) associated with the items you wish to restore
- Press "Menu" and tap "Move" > "Device storage"
- Access the location where you want to restore the files
- Tap "move here" or alternatively, tap "Create folder" or the folder name to restore the files in a different location
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy Core Prime to the computer via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Check the "Media device (MTP)" box
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the backed up media files on your computer
- Copy the desired files and transfer them to the smartphone in the "Card" or "Phone" (sub)directories
- Once the transfer is complete, click the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray and disconnect your smartphone
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Core Prime and PC
- From the notification area tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the check box associated with "Media device"
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
- Access the "Restore" tab and mark the "Music" and "Photo" check boxes. Alternatively click "Select all items" to restore all media files
- When ready, click "Restore"
- When the transfer is done, safely eject the phone's storage from the Mac and disconnect the phone from the computer
