Back Up Applications:
- Tap "Apps" on the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Backup and reset"
- Ensure a Google account is registered on your device. If not, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
- Check the "Back up my data" and "Backup account" boxes if necessary
Back Up Contacts
Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Launch "Contacts"
- Tap "Settings" > "Merge accounts"
- Select either "Google" or "Samsung account"
- Tap "OK" to confirm and back up your contacts on the selected account
On the SD Card:
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Go to "Applications" and tap "Contacts"
- Tap "Menu" > "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Tap "Import /Export" and choose to "Export to SD card"
- Tap "OK" and make sure you remember the name of the backup file for future use
Back Up Media Files
On the SD Card:
- Launch "My Files"
- Tap "Device storage" under "Local storage"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Browser for the files you want to back up and check their associated checkboxes
- Tap "Menu" and select "Copy"
- Tap "SD Card" and navigate to the desired backup location
- Tap "Paste here"
Using a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy E7 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar and make sure "Media device" is enabled
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, double-click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open the "Card" or "Phone" directory and locate the desired backup files
- Copy the files and navigate to the desired backup location on your computer
- Paste the files on the HDD and once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect it from the PC
Using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip directly to step 4
- Open the Internet browser on your Mac
- Visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy E7 to your Mac via USB
- Ensure the phone is connected as a "Media Device"
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
- Access the "Backup" tab and mark the boxes next to "Photos", "Music" and other desired media file types
- Click "Backup" to start the process. Once done, drag the Galaxy E7 storage icon into "Trash / Eject" and safely disconnect your smartphone
