Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy A8 to your computer via USB
- If necessary drag the Status bar down and tap Connected as a media device > Media device (MTP)
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer double-click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer
- Open a second Explorer window and locate the desired audio files on your computer
- Copy the files and paste them on your phone memory (first Explorer window, preferably in the Notifications / Ringtones folders)
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the USB connector
Transfer Audio Files from a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Open the Internet explorer on the Mac and visit Kies
- Click Download for Mac OS and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy A8 to the computer via USB
- If necessary, enable Media device (MTP) from the status area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Inside Kies, click the Folder icon associated with Internal memory (or External memory). Alternatively click the Music folder
- Open a file explorer window and locate the desired audio files on the Mac
- Drag the files and drop them in Kies
- After the process is complete, eject the phones storage by dragging its virtual drive to the trash can icon, and safely disconnect it from the Mac
Add Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- On the phone, tap Apps from the home screen
- Access Settings
- Swipe to Device and tap Sounds and notifications
- Tap Ringtones and sounds under Sound
- Tap Ringtone > Add ringtone
- Select Sound picker > Always or Just once
- Tap the desired audio files and press Done
Change the Phones Ringtone:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Swipe to Device and tap Sounds and notifications
- Tap Ringtones and sounds under Sound
- Tap Ringtone and select the one you want to use
- Tap back and the changes will be saved automatically
Change a Specific Contacts Ringtone:
NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be set for contacts stored on the phone memory or the SIM card
- Open Contacts
- Select the desired contact
- Tap Edit (pencil icon)
- Tap Ringtone and select the desired one
- Tap OK > Save
Change the Notification Sound:
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Sounds and notifications
- Tap Ringtones and sounds under Sound
- Select the desired notification type and the notification sound
- Tap back to save the changes
