Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps doesnt work as intended (crashes, freezes, doesnt start, or simply takes up too much space), you can clear the apps cache / data to try and solve these issues.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will remove all personal data stored within the app, including login and credit card information, settings, profiles, saved games etc. To avoid losing data you should try and fix the issues by clearing the cache first.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Applications and tap Application manager
- Swipe to All or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache did not help, tap Clear data > OK
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone is acting up and you are considering master resetting it, you might be able to fix these problems by wiping the cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without actually losing all data stored on the internal memory.
- Turn off the device
- Press and hold Volume Up, Power, and Home at the same time
- Once the phone vibrates, release Home and Power but keep holding Volume Up pressed
- At the Android System Recovery screen, release all buttons
- Navigate the recovery menu using the volume buttons
- Highlight Wipe cache partition and press Power to select the option
- After the cache is wiped, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power and your phone will reboot
NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didnt help, you can try factory resetting the device instead. Visit this thread for a full guide on how to perform a master reset on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues on your device and prevents you from master resetting it, you can remove it by first rebooting your device in Safe Mode. In this mode all third party apps are disabled.
- Turn off the phone
- With the handset powered off, press and hold Power At the Samsung logo, release the Power button and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Keep holding the volume key pressed until the phone finishes rebooting. (A safe mode message should be displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen)
- To remove an app, first go to Settings and then:
- Swipe to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall twice to confirm
- To exit safe mode, simply press and hold Power, tap Restart and wait for your phone to reboot as you normally would
