WARNING! Master resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory, including ringtones, apps, contacts, downloaded content etc. All settings will be restored to factory values; however data stored on the SIM / SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before proceeding with the factory reset, you can visit this thread for a guide on backing up data on the S5 Neo, or this thread for a guide on restoring data.

    Master Reset via Settings:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Access “Settings”
    3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
    4. Optionally, enable the “Back up my data” and “Restore” options
    5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
    6. Assuming your phone is protected by a PIN / password, enter it and tap “Continue”
    7. Tap “Delete all” to confirm

    Master Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone prevents you from resetting it via settings (perhaps it freezes, crashes, doesn’t boot up etc.) then you might be able to reset it from recovery instead. You can access the recovery menu by performing a combination of button presses:

    1. Turn off the smartphone
    2. Press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home” and “Power” buttons at the same time
    3. After the phone vibrates, release the “Power” key but continue holding “Volume Up” and “Home” pressed
    4. Once the Android System Recovery screen appears, release all hardware buttons
    5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
    6. Press “Power” to select the option
    7. Navigate to “Yes – delete all user data” using the volume rocker
    8. Press “Power” to select the option
    9. Once the phone finishes resetting, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
    10. Press “Power” and wait for your phone to reboot

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh factory reset you may want to check if newer software updates are available. To do this:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Swipe to and tap “About device”
    4. Tap “Software update” > “OK”
    5. If a new update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it on your device

Re: Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo: Factory Reset; Update the OS

I was thinking of doing a factory reset on my s5 neo to try to improve battery drain times. However I was worried about getting it wrong and completely messing up my phone as I have never done this before. Can you confirm that, if I factory reset the phone, it will return to the state that it was in when I first purchased it from the shop (including all apps etc that were already loaded on it)
