Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode to enable the feature
- To adjust how power saving mode works, tap Start power saving and select a battery percentage
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display > Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
- Disable Automatic brightness if necessary, and then drag the brightness slider to the left
Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap the connectivity options you need to disable (such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth)
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and set the feature to OFF
Disable Background Data:
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Tap Data usage under Connections
- Tap More > Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change the Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select the desired account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your battery life even when you dont use them. This is due to the fact that some applications run regular background processes. As such, disabling or removing unused third party apps can improve battery life.
- Tap Apps and go to Settings
- Tap Applications under Device
- Tap Application manager
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall or choose to disable the app temporarily
Use 2G Instead of 4G:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap More connection settings under Connections
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only to restrict connectivity to 2G
Update the Firmware:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, thus you should keep your phone OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to System" and tap About device
- Check if a new update is available, and if yes, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
