Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, doesnt work as intended or takes up more storage than it should, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an applications data will result in the deletion of all personal information stored within the app, including login and credit card details, profiles, saved games, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application Manager
- Swipe to Downloaded or All
- Select the desired application and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache partition didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your smartphone doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting it, you may want to try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar beneficial effects to a factory reset without losing any of your personal data. To wipe the cache partition:
- Turn off the phone if necessary
- Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power at the same time
- At the Samsung logo, release Power
- At the Android logo, release the other two hardware buttons and wait to gain aces sot the Recovery menu (this can take up to 1 minute)
- Once in the Android System Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Wipe Cache Partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache partition is wiped, Reboot system now should be highlighted
- Press Power again to confirm and restart your phone
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can instead factory reset the Samsung Galaxy Express 3.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an Application:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes issues on your phone and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode all third party applications are disabled. To reboot the Samsung Galaxy Express 3 in Safe Mode:
- First, turn off the phone, if necessary
- Next, press and hold Power
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power and quickly press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen. After the reboot you can release all buttons
- On the home screen, tap Apps > Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm and remove the app
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and tap Restart
