Clear App Data / Cache:
NOTE: In case one of your applications doesnt work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all your personal data stored within the app, including high scores, save files, settings, profiles, credit card and login information. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the applications cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Swipe to All or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you wish to factory reset it, you can try solving these problems by wiping the phones cache partition instead. This can yield results similar to a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data located on the phones internal memory.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Power, Volume Up, and Home at the same time
- At the Samsung logo, release Power
- When the Android logo appears, release the other two buttons too
- In the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm the selection
- After the cache is wiped, Reboot system now should be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and restart your phone
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an Application:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can remove the app by first restarting the device in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn off the device
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Release all keys once the phone reboots. NOTE: A Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- Go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Go to Downloaded and select the app you want to remove
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- After the app has been removed, press and hold Power and tap Restart to reboot your phone and exit Safe Mode
