Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to your PC via USB
  2. When prompted (or from the “Notification” area), enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Locate the desired audio files on your computer and copy them
  5. Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Notification” / “Ringtones” directories
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Transfer Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and follow the on-screen steps to install the app on your computer
  4. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to your Mac via USB
  5. When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac and inside Kies, click the “Folder” icon associated with “Internal memory” or “External memory”
  7. Launch the File Finder on the Mac
  8. Use the File Finder to locate the desired audio files on the Mac storage
  9. Drag the files and drop them in the Kies window to begin the transfer
  10. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
  11. You can now safely disconnect the phone form the USB cord

Add Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Sounds and notifications”
  3. Tap “Ringtones and sounds” > “Ringtone”
  4. Tap “Add ringtone” and select “Sound picker”
  5. Choose to use the sound picker “Always” or “Just once”
  6. Select the audio files you want to add to the ringtone list and tap “Done”

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Sounds and notifications”
  4. Under “Sound”, tap “Ringtones and sounds”
  5. Tap “Ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  6. Press “Back” to confirm

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts located on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Select the contact you want to set a ringtone to
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Ringtone”
  4. Select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “OK” > “Save”

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device “and tap “Sounds & Notifications”
  3. Under “Sounds”, tap “Ringtones and sound”
  4. Select the notification type and the desired notification sound
  5. Tap “Back “to confirm the changes
