Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Under Personal, tap Backup & reset
- To back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data to your Google account, enable Back up my data
- To allow app data to be restored automatically upon reinstallation, enable Automatic restore
Back Up Contacts Using a Google Account:
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Select Google as an account type and choose your Google account
- Ensure Contacts is selected
- Tap More > Sync Now
Back Up Contacts to SD Card / Storage:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Contacts > Import / Export contacts
- Tap Export
- Choose SD card or Storage
- Note the file name for future use and tap OK to confirm
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open My Files
- Under Local storage, tap Device storage
- Tap More > Edit and locate the media files you want to back up
- Tick the boxes associated with the desired media files
- Tap More > Copy > SD card
- Tap Create folder or navigate to the desired backup location
- Tap Paste here
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime to your computer via USB
- Enable Media device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- On the computer, launch the File Explorer
- Use the Explorer to locate the media files on your phone
- Copy the desired files and transfer them in the backup location on the computer
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
- Turn on Media device (MTP) / File Transfer (MTP) at the prompt or from the Notification area
- On the Mac, launch Kies and click the Back up / restore tab
- Access the Backup tab
- Select Photos, Music, and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup and wait for the process to complete
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping the phones virtual drive from the desktop and into the Trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
