Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
  4. To back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data to your Google account, enable “Back up my data”
  5. To allow app data to be restored automatically upon reinstallation, enable “Automatic restore”

Back Up Contacts Using a Google Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select Google as an account type and choose your Google account
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is selected
  5. Tap “More” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Contacts to SD Card / Storage:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  3. Tap “Contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
  4. Tap “Export”
  5. Choose “SD card” or “Storage”
  6. Note the file name for future use and tap “OK” to confirm

Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “My Files”
  3. Under “Local storage”, tap “Device storage”
  4. Tap “More” > “Edit” and locate the media files you want to back up
  5. Tick the boxes associated with the desired media files
  6. Tap “More” > “Copy” > “SD card”
  7. Tap “Create folder” or navigate to the desired backup location
  8. Tap “Paste here”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Use the Explorer to locate the media files on your phone
  5. Copy the desired files and transfer them in the backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Head down to Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
  5. Turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  6. On the Mac, launch Kies and click the “Back up / restore” tab
  7. Access the “Backup” tab
  8. Select “Photos”, “Music”, and other media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” and wait for the process to complete
  10. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
  11. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
