Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Galaxy J2 Prime to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired audio files on the PC storage
  4. Transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” / “notifications” folder(s)
  5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Transfer Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac and visit Kies Support
  2. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
  3. Establish a USB connection between the Samsung device and Mac
  4. Turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  5. Open Kies on the Mac and in Kies, click the “Folder” icon associated with “internal memory” or “external memory”
  6. Launch the File Finder on the Mac and locate the desired audio files on the Mac storage
  7. Drag the files and drop them in Kies to start the transfer
  8. Once complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”

Add Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sounds and ringtones”
  3. Tap “Ringtones and sounds”
  4. Tap “Ringtone” > “Add ringtone”
  5. Select “Sound picker” and choose to use it “Always” or “Just once”
  6. Select the desired audio files and tap “Done”

Change the General Ringtone:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sounds and notifications”
  3. Tap “Ringtones and sounds” under “Sound”
  4. Tap “Ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “Back” to confirm the changes

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts located on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Select the desired contact
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Ringtone”
  4. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK”
  5. Tap “Save” to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sounds & notifications”
  3. Under “Sounds”, tap “Ringtones and sound”
  4. Select a notification type
  5. Select the desired notification sound and tap “Back” to confirm
