i own a samsung phone powered by verizon, my buddy wasnt answering his phone calls from creditors because he knew there 1800 numbers, but they called him and the number he saw on his phone was 00000000. i want to know if there is a way to change ur number to where when u call someone it can display any number ex. 123, 222 just like the creditors did to him. Is that possible? i want to be able to call someone and it shows up a wierd number that is odd like 000000000 or somethin like that. also i want to be able to make it so when people get text messages they will see that in the "from" part. i was able to make the callback number change but now who its from. any ideas? thanks- steve

Now Steve.O, this note is a tad off topic, and hopefully jeaniesing will forgive me.

As far as what the telemarketers and creditors are doing, most are using computerized phone systems that often allow you to plug in any name and number to show up on the caller ID. Some creditors are now using their systems to plug in local area codes and numbers (to the areas they are calling) to fool people that are dodging their calls.

This way they can call once with a phony contest that you won, to get your information, correct *****ing of your name, contact numbers, mailing addreses and even some cases your SS# (so they can find out where you work and tag your wages).

This ploy confirms that you are home and answering and nabs more personal data to help to get you to pay.
