hey guys, I am about to get a brand new phone (ive been using audiovox 8910 or w/e for two years) and I have a few questions I know before I go ahead with it.

It's the Samsung A900 and with my audiovox i got a usb cable and got acustom to having my own made ringtones and uploading my own wallpapers, first off Can I still have my self-made mp3 ringtones in the a900 and Can I upload my own pictures to use as wallpapers?

it's also indicated to be an mp3 phone, how does this work in this model? Is there an extra storage on it that allows for files that can be mp3?? And can you assign one of your uploaded mp3s as a ringer?

Thanks so much if you know please respond as soon as you can as I am looking to get it in the next few days

so you can just put mp3s into that space and the phone plays them? you dont have to buy them through a site or something, like they come right from your computer?

don't buy the a900. Especially for mp3's. it is a horrible mp3 player. So is the a920. don't buy that either. A phone is supposed to be just that, a phone. Anything else and you start getting a crappy product. Remember those 3-in-1 cameras.... yea, sacrifice quality for quantity. If you want to listen to mp3's get an mp3 player. You may also want to take a look at the Sony Erricson phone.. the new one 830i or something? I forget really but it has 4GB of memory.

I have an a920 and it's great phone but getting custom ringtones onto it from the computer requires advanced software. To play my mp3s with it I load them onto the transflash card then I put the card into the phone and go to Menu, 3, 2, and pick a song.

My recommendation for putting your own content on your phone would be to buy a Motorola in the Razr/Krzr line and use Motorola Phone Tools to load custom content.

Well, opinions do range from one person to the next. I have both the a900 and a920. Each have superior features over the next, but neither, imo, are great for use as an mp3 player. Granted. the a920 is much better than the a900 for mp3's, but there are several other phones i am sure of, that are better than the a920.

I bought my a920 because the a660 I had before sucked (web didn't work and it dropped calls) and I wanted mp3 ringtones.

    OK I have an a900, and here's first-hand stuff

    - Mass storage device has 47 MB. That's good for about 9 CD-quality songs, or 45 songs downloaded from The Music Store
    - This phone can play custom videos, just convert them to .3gp or .3g2
    - To make files accessible in Media Player put the media files in /MEDIA/. To make files accessible in My Albums put them in /DCIM/something/.
    - Memory for downloads is 11 MB
    - Yes you can put your own MP3s, yes you can put your own wallpapers. All of my MP3s, videos, wallpapers, games, ringers, and apps are all not bought. Just make sure you get unlimited browser or you could end up paying literally thousands for downloads
    - No this phone doesn't have expandable memory
    - Screen resolution is 240 by 320, so make wallpapers that size
