Changing the Home Screen Wallpaper:

  1. While viewing a home screen, tap and hold an empty area until the phone vibrates
  2. Tap "Wallpapers"
  3. Select the desired option, and set a wallpaper

Changing a Home Screen Theme:

  1. Tap and hold an empty area on the home screen
  2. When the device vibrates, release the finger
  3. Tap "Themes" and select the desired theme

NOTE: when changing a theme, the background will also change in certain applications

Changing the Lock Screen Wallpaper:

  1. From the home screen, drag the status bar down
  2. Tap the "Settings" icon
  3. Tap "Personalization" and select "Lock screen"
  4. Select the desired option, and then follow any additional prompts to change the lock screen wallpaper

Adding a Widget to a Home Screen:

  1. From any home screen, tap and hold an empty area until the smartphone vibrates
  2. Tap "Widgets"
  3. Browse through your widgets and select the one that you wish to add

Resizing a Widget:

  1. Go to the home screen where the widget is found
  2. Tap and hold the widget until the device vibrates
  3. If the widget can be resized, it will now be surrounded by a frame with resizing dots
  4. Drag the resizing dots to shrink or expand the widget
  5. To confirm the new size, tap the home screen, outside of the widget

Moving or Deleting a Widget:

  1. Locate the desired widget, then tap and hold it until the handset vibrates
  2. Drag the widget in its new location (You can switch home screens by dragging the widget to the edge of the screen)
  3. Drop the widget in its new location, or, to remove it, drag and drop it on top of the trash can icon

Adding a Widget to the Lock Screen:

  1. With your smartphone in sleep mode, tap the "Power" button to activate the screen
  2. Swipe the screen inwards, from the top-left area. A "+" button should appear
  3. Tap the "+" button. If prompted to do so, enter your PIN code, password or pattern
  4. Browse for, and tap the widget that you wish to add

Moving or Removing a Widget from the Lock Screen:

  1. From sleep mode, activate the screen by pressing the "Power" button
  2. Tap and hold the widget that you wish to move, and drag it to its new location
  3. To remove the widget, simply drag it on top of the trash can icon

Enhancing the Sound Output:

The Xperia Z1s offers sound enhancements such as Clear Phase, xLoud and ClearAudio+. You can allow your device to adjust the sound output automatically, or manually.

Enhancing the Sound Output Automatically:

  1. While on the home screen, drag the status bar down
  2. Tap the "Settings" icon
  3. Tap "Sound" > "Sound effects"
  4. Mark the check box associated with "ClearAudio+"

To Adjust the Sound Enhancements Manually:

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Sound" > "Sound effects"
  3. If necessary, unmark the "ClearAudio+" check box
  4. Tap "Sound enhancements" and then tap "Settings"
  5. Mark or unmark the check boxes associated with the desired settings

Minimizing Volume Differences via the Dynamic Normaliser:

  1. While on the home screen, drag the status bar down and tap "Settings"
  2. Tap "Sound" > "Sound effects"
  3. Mark the "Dynamic normalizer" check box
