How-to: Sony Xperia Z3: Back Up Personal Data

Back Up Applications:

1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
2. Go to "Settings"
3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
4. Mark the "Backup my data" check box
5. Tap "Backup account" and select the desired backup account. If you need to add a new account, tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen instructions

Backing Up Contacts:

1. Open the apps drawer
2. Tap "Backup & restore"
3. Mark the check box associated with "Contacts". Optionally, choose to back up "Conversations" and "Call log" too
4. Tap "Continue"
5. When the backup is done, tap "Finish"

Media File Backup

Backing Up Media Files Using Your Smartphone:

1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
2. Scroll to and tap "File Commander"
3. Tap "Pictures" or "Videos" and go to "Camera"
4. Mark the files you wish to transfer and tap "Copy"
5. Navigate to the File Commander's main screen and tap "SD Card"
6. Go to the folder where you wish to back up the media files
7. Tap the icon depicting a notepad with pen, and tap "Paste"

Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

1. Establish a USB connection between the Sony Xperia Z3 and computer
2. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to browse the phone's files and folders
3. Access the phone's "Internal storage"
4. Navigate to where the media files are located on the phone
5. Copy the desired files and paste them in the desired backup location on your computer
6. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
8. You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
