Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC to Use as Ringtones / Notifications:

  1. Connect the Sony Xperia E3 to your computer via USB
  2. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to browse the phone's files and folders
  3. Open the "Internal Storage' folder and access the "Music" and / or "Notifications" directories
  4. Launch a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are located on your computer's HDD
  5. Copy the desired audio files and transfer them in the "Music" and / or "Notifications" directories
  6. After the transfer is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray
  7. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" and click "OK" to confirm
  8. You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Changing the Phone Ringtone:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Sound" and under "Ringtone & Vibration", tap "Phone ringtone"
  4. Tap the "Music" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
  5. Navigate to, and select the audio files you want to use for your phone's ringtone
  6. Tap "Done" to confirm

Changing the Ringtone of a Single Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be assigned to contacts stored on the SIM card or the phone's memory.

  1. Open the "Phone" application
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab located in the top-right corner of the screen
  3. Select the contact you want to edit and tap the "Edit contact" icon located in the upper-right area of the display
  4. Swipe to, and tap the "Ringtone" drop-down menu
  5. Tap the "Music" icon located in the upper-right corner
  6. Choose the audio file you want to set as the contact's ringtone
  7. Tap "Done"

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Sound"
  3. Swipe to "System" and tap "Default notification sound". NOTE: Newly transferred files in the "Notifications" folder will appear at the bottom of the list
  4. Choose the desired notification sound
  5. Tap "Done" to confirm
