hey, i bought a Samsung a920 cell phone off ebay. I planned on using it on my cell phone network MTS. It's a phone they sell and use but for some reason they were not able to switch it to their network. Does anyone know if it's possible. My phone company said they've taken phones from Bell mobility and were able to get them on their network. They were not able to with Sprint. does anyone know why this is??
thanks

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
I once went to a place that buys used cell phones to make into a parts phone, I saw one of the guys that works there had a "Cingular" phone and I was asking about their service, he told me he didn't have them for service, and explained it was a "Cingular" phone but he cracked it and made it into a "Sprint" phone. They offered their services to do that to most phones for like $5 USD. That's about the only thing I know.

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
i found this info on a website and it works to access the programming menus on my phone. my phone company was trying to press ##765# to access programming. i guess sprint is just different. the codes below worked for my phone when i tried them. i'm not even sure if thats what my phone company was trying to access. i'm not sure if thats what they need to edit to get the phone on their network... i noticed that when you get to those menus, if you want to edit anything you need an access code. these access codes i'm pretty sure are the ones that i would have to contact sprint to get. does anyone know if they will tell me what the codes are? what would i ask for?
Mod edit: Please don't enter these codes unless you know what you're doing! You could accidentally reset your phone, requiring you to call Sprint or go to a Sprint Store location to get it working again.
To enter codes dial the code just like any other phone number
##786# - Phone Usage & Master Reset (##RTN#)
##3282# - Data Provisioning (##DATA#)
##33284# - Debug Menu (##DEBUG#)
Modem NAI Disable Procedure
To disable the secondary Modem NAI, go to Menu > Settings > Display, and press 0 to access a hidden menu. Enter 040793 as the security code. At the following menu, scroll to Toggle NAI and chose Off Modem NAI, followed by OK. Then power the phone off immediately. When you turn the phone back on, Modem NAI will be disabled.
Trick: Enable Incoming Calls During EV-DO
To receive incoming calls while in an active EV-DO (Power Vision) data session, go to Menu > Settings > Display, and press 0 to access a hidden menu. Enter 040793 as the security code. At the following menu, scroll to Toggle DOTM and select Off DOTM in the following menu. This will then allow for incoming calls while in an EV-DO data session, however, in a 1xRTT (Vision) data session calls will still be redirected to voicemail.Last edited by Brad729; 09-01-2006 at 12:17 PM.

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
Caleman22, all your questions can be answered HERE. (I doubt Sprint will give you the code but if you explain to them you're in Canada and tell them you were "duped" on ebay by a seller who promised you could activate the phone, they might be a little more willing to help) If you go messing with those codes and service menus posted above you could accidentally make the phone unusable.
RooDlux, You can't turn a Cingular phone into a Sprint phone, they use two completely different technologies! You'd have to completely gut the phone and replace the insides with another phone that uses CDMA technology.Last edited by Brad729; 09-01-2006 at 12:15 PM.

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
Actually I wanted to use qpst and needed the msl for my 920 so I called *2 the rep answered and said "what can I help you with today?" I replied "I have a program for downloading the images from my phone to my computer but it says it needs the msl. Can I get the msl to my phone?" She replied "Sure the msl is ######. Did I satisfy your reason for calling? Me "Yes mam thanks!" Once I had that I just changed my msl to a number I could remember
Moral of this story... You would be surprised what you can get if you ask! Also if you try this and the rep refuses or asks too many questions tell her nevermind wasnt that big of a deal and have a nice day to keep your acount from getting flagged to not give you the msl. Took me about 50 reps till I was able to get on the sero plan

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
This is pure BS. Cingular (AT&T) uses a different type of signal (GSM) than Sprint (CDMA). There is no way to make a GSM phone work on a CDMA network. It's like trying to run a gas engine on diesel. It's just not going to happen. In addition, Sprint will not activate a phone they didn't originally sell.
Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Re: Unlock a Sprint Phone??
I tried to buy 3 phones off ebay and got ripped off. They took my money and never sent the product. I just decided to pay the extra amount and buy one from cricket.
