Voice quality on 7100g?

I've read a number of complaints about the voice quality on the 7100 phones. Does anyone know if this is a problem on all the models of 7100 and if so, whether it has been resolved yet or they are at least working on it?

I want to get a 7100 but I need it to be good as a telephone too.

I have a 7100g and i have been using it since early Aug on the cingular network. Let me say first that the phone is only as good as the service it's on in terms of phone use. The 7100g has incredible clarity. I have no issues talking on the phone. Since the phone is flat and has no curviture it is a bit awkward in the beginning to line the earspeaker to your ear. Once you get used to it, it's fine. The earpiece which is provided with the phone works just as well or even better. The speakerphone is a 7 out of 10. Background noise will make the speakerphone less useful compared to other phones. I find that when i talk, people on the other end will ask if i am at home (when i initiate the call, i restrict my i.d.) because of the clear sound. I would def recommend the phone solely based as a cellphone.
What service are you using or thinking of using, Laurah?

I am with Cingular. I had thought of moving to TMO for the cheaper data plans but have not been impressed with their coverage in less populated areas.

I actually prefer a phone that is a bit bigger than the current mania for tiny tiny phones as the tiny buttons tend to cause a problem for me.

Even the Cingular rep told me that "if you don't have top notch hearing don't get the 7100g" as it doesn't have good reception or volume.

From my research on the web it seems that some people have a problem with the microphone and sound and some don't.
