I am by far the most careless person with my cell phone. I have dropped it out of my truck onto pavement more times than I would have liked.. Sure I could get a protective covering on it of some sort, but I'm cheap. So cheap it's a refurbished phone anyway, but I digress..

After a few rounds of dropping it, any time I would set it down or even look at it wrong the sim card would unseat and I'd have to cycle the power. Sometimes even walking with it in my pocket would cause the sim card to unseat! It was annoying to say the least.

So, I called AT&T and of course the first question they ask is "has it been dropped". I don't like to lie about anything, so I say "I've dropped it a few times" "Sorry, Sir it's not covered". Alright, atleast I tried..

So I try to think of what I can do... I open it up, take the battery out and it hits me...

    The fix:

Fold up a small nickel sized peice of paper into fours. Put it under the Sim Card door. Make sure the Sim Card is lined up, push the door down and lock it in place. It should provide enough resistance to keep the sim card seated 95% of the time. I still have times where I drop it out of the truck or off the couch and it'll go SOS on me, but it's very rare now.

Oh, by the way, the paper you put in your Sim Card door could double as a place to hide your password too. Keep in mind if someone steals your phone, they have your password to. Kind of like keeping your computer passwords under your keyboard. A better idea may be to save some obscure account pin number in there with no ID markings or a "challenge" that reminds you what your password is without actually giving your password that only you would know.

    Just some thoughts.
