Hello all:
Shortly after getting my 8520 set up on Fido (phone was a Rogers, unlocked, never used), and setting the wifi to connect automatically to my home network two things happened.
First, the wifi worked great. FAST browsing, decent if not perfect call quality. But then...
Mystery data charges. Substancial ones. I called FIDO. They said "maybe you were travelling outside of Canada?" Nope, I wasn't, as proven out by my calling record. "Maybe you were over data limit." Nope again, no where near it.
So, the Fido rep cancelled out the charges. Here's my question though.
COuld it be that FIDO is charging me extra for using data on wifi? I've searched other forums that indicate that wifi data is still routed through the cell company's routers. Is it possible that FIDO is seeing my wifi data usage as usage on another network?
I'll report what happens with future Fido bills. I'd also like to hear if other wifi enabled BlackBerry users have had this experience.
