How-to: BlackBerry Priv: Transfer and Set Custom Ringtones & Notification Sounds

Transfer Audio Files from a Windows PC:

1. Connect the BlackBerry Priv to your computer via USB
2. Swipe the “notification” bar down and make sure the connection with the PC is set as “Media device (MTP)”
3. On the computer, launch an Explorer window and locate the audio files on the PC
4. Copy the desired files, and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory > “Ringtones” / “Notifications” / “Alarms” folders
5. Once the transfer is done, click “Safely Remove Mass Storage Device” in the system tray and eject the phone storage
6. Safely disconnect the device from the USB

Change the General Ringtone:

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
3. Tap “Sound”
4. Under “Call Ringtone & vibrate”, tap “Phone ringtone”
5. Choose a ringtone and tap “OK”
6. Optionally you can enable or disable “Also vibrate for calls”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be set for contacts stored on the phone’s internal memory or the SIM card.

1. Launch “Contacts”
2. Select the desired contact
3. Tap “Edit” > “Menu”
4. Tap “Set ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
2. Launch “Settings”
3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sound & notification”
4. Tap “Default Notification Sound” under “Sound”
5. Select a notification sound and tap “OK” to confirm
