We normally spend our winters in the USA. We presently have a Rogers Pay As You Go phone for Canada that we want to change to a plan that will allow us to receive calls from Canada while we are in the USA.

We also have a T-Mobile Pay As You Go phone that we use down there (10 cents per minute - no LD charges!), so the Rogers phone would not be used very often. Basically just to receive emergency calls from a relative's care givers as they only have the Rogers number and it is WAY too complicated to give them alternate numbers to call when we are away. We tried this last year and they simply will not call the USA number even in emergencies.

We could solve all this with automatic forewarding to our T-Mibile phone but I do not believe that is an option with Rogers Pay As You Go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Re: Help choosing Rogers plan

you can now receive calls on your rogers pay-as-you-go phone while travelling in the US. roaming in the US is now permitted for paygo customers. this is a recent development <2 months ago, ~ish>.

so just keep your rogers paygo phone on you. mind you, the roaming charges aren't cheap when receiving a call while in the US. it'll be $2.49/minute while receiving a call in the US, or making a call *from* the US *to* anywhere in the US or Canada.

    hope that helps.

We just found this out ourselves yesterday. We will do just as you suggest, keep the phone on and not use it. If we get a call we will get a number and call them back on the T-Mobile for $.10 a minute or $.30 to canada. Thanks.
