I have had a Rogers Razer for a cpl years its been deactivated but its a nice phone and the free ones from t-mobile suck and I spent like $300 on this thing. Since I'm moving from Canada to Minnesota can I use it on T-mobile with one of their $6 prepaid sim cards? Or is this thing unable to do that?

If the RAZR you have is unlocked, then the answer is yes you can use it. Otherwise, you will have to unlock the RAZR for it to work.

how do I tell if its unlocked?
Also besides telling me to look on google, like in 90 other thrads how do I unlock a Razr?
Putting in a new sim card and getting a code from t-mobile wouldn't do it?

About the only way to tell if it's unlocked is to put a different SIM card (non-Rogers SIM card) in the device. If it works, then it's unlocked. If it says insert SIM card, then it's locked. As to unlocking the device, there are several ways; with some devices you need a code; with some, you need a cable and software. There are stores/people who do it for a small fee, and, of course, as you mentioned there's Google. Another option might be the provider (Rogers). I mention this because, here in the states, once you've had the service for a while (90 days), the carrier will provider the unlock code. Both T-Mobile and AT&T offer this. I am not sure if the Canadian companies do the same thing. You can always ask, though. I hope that helps. Good luck.

I see a bunch of methods on youtube does the 0000000 method actually work. I realized I think I have another sim card I can stick in there to try anyways. Would t-mobile be able to get me the info, be like you unlock my phone I'll take your service. Or would I have to get it from Rogers who I think are sketch bags that I havent has service with for 2-3 years.

It's really tough for me to say if those codes work. I don't buy locked phone, which basically means that I don't buy phones sold by the company. Of course, this works only with GSM carriers and I have AT&T. I purchase all my phones unbranded/unlocked. It just makes my life easier. As to whether T-Mobile will give you the unlock code, that's highly unlikely. They have more to gain from your phone staying locked and you purchasing a phone from them. As to Rogers, I really don't know their policy or anyone that has their service. I suppose your best route is either someone else giving you the code or you paying to get it unlocked. Good luck.

yes, the only wait to tell if your motorola phone is already unlock is by installing another sim card.. if it takes you to the main menu....you are golden.. if it says: "enter subisdy code" or "contact service provider" that means the phone is LOCKED! .. .

to unlock it, all you need is a code.. 0000000 doesn't work because you need to hack some file in your phone for that... your best and most simple way is to buy a code.

i have had great success using this website: mobile-to-go.com They are local to me in Vancouver, and I have unlocked many phones from them. they sell remote codes so I'm sure they can unlock your phone too. good luck!
