Back in August, Rogers announced that it would launch the Samsung Captivate, aka, Samsung Galaxy S, but that did not happen. According to Rogers, the delay was due to the shortages of AMOLED. Below is the statement from VP of Samsung Electronics Canada, Paul Brannen:

“Due to a worldwide shortage in Super AMOLED technology screens, we regret that Samsung was unable to deliver the Galaxy S Captivate to Rogers in time for the scheduled launch. The continued shortage has resulted in repeated delays. We know this is a widely anticipated device and apologize to Rogers customers. We’re pleased to say that we have begun shipping the device to Rogers, though shipments will be limited over the next few weeks. Samsung is committed to supporting Rogers with further notices, on the Rogers blog RedBoard and via Samsung Mobile Facebook and Twitter pages.”

Now...after nearly two months, Rogers will finally sell the Samsung Captivate beginning on October 25. Customers can pre-order the handset at this site http://www.rogers.com/web/content/sa...08-_-captivate which will be priced at $149.99 with a new 3-year contract.

For those who are not interested in pre-ordering, the price is $179.99 and for those already with Rogers, the price is $149.99, but you will have to make a trip to your nearest Rogers store. Offers are good until November 2.
