Ok, so my plan is going to end some time this February. Apparently, according to experts at HowardForums, I have a really cruddy plan with Rogers, here are the specs:
About $55/month give or take (including system access fee+hst) for:
1000 Evening & Weekend Minutes (after 6pm)
100 Weekday Minutes
500 Incoming Minutes
MY10 Local Talk & Text
Call Display with Name Display
Enhanced Voicemail
125 text messages (to send)
WhoCalled
MobileBackup
I've had a regular phone with this plan, like not a smartphone, just a regular mobile phone. Some broke so i switched and what not.
I recently got an iPhone 3GS from a friend, so currently using that WITHOUT cellular data, and I've also been thinking about getting a data plan.
Now, I did a little bit of research, and I figured that i'm gonna need 4GB+ of data for my needs, otherwise I don't really need data (because i watch A LOT of streaming videos).
I've been reading stuff over at this thread called "Post your Rogers Voice + Data Plans" on this site.
And these guys are getting these plans with 6gb of data for the SAME PRICE AS ME??? DAAAMN
Now, I have never negotiated for phone contracts before, but I'm wanting a plan that is like at BEST $10 over my current plan. like my IDEAL plan would be like:
Unlimited Local call
Something that offers at best 250 text messages for sending (or unlimited)
MY10
6gb data
all for $50~$60
I understand if it seems super unrealistic, but I want to know what's possible. AND, I want to know how to negotiate with these people at Rogers, especially because I'm using a smartphone that was not provided to me by Rogers (however, it IS a Rogers iPhone).
I understand that I may have to commit to another contract, i'll probably be fine with that, but I just wanted to know, what is realistic (what seems possible), and how to ask for it.
Thanks in advance
