    Hi,

I'm a bit exasperated with my new Galaxy Ace 2. Its the first smartphone I've had and I stupidly said it could add my google account in. Next thing I knew it had imported gmail calendar entries and contacts and generally made a mess of things !

Does anyone know how I can easily un-sync and get rid of this gmail account from my phone ? When I try to remove it, it says I can only do it via a factory reset, which would be bloody annoying as I've just got the phone the way I like it.

Bloody google, I quite liked them until now !

Any help would be very much appreciated !

How do I un-sync (and get rid of) a google account from my galaxy ace 2 ?

Help ! Just bought a Galaxy Ace 2. Its the first smartphone I've had and I stupidly said that it could add in my google account. Next thing I know its imported all the contacts and calendar events from Gmail. Its generally made a right mess of things (I dont want that stuff in my phone).

I really want to a) un-sync all this data ie. get rid of it b) remove the google account

When I go to remove the account via 'settings', it says I can only do it by reverting to factory settings, which I dont want to do, as I've just got the phone how I want it.

Bloody google, I quite liked them until now !

Any ideas ? Any help would be much appreciated !

So if you go to settings > accounts > google - there's no option to uncheck 'sync contacts' ?

    No, afraid not.

I go to Settings > Accounts and Sync, then to my google account and the 'Sync' options dont have tick boxes. They all just say 'Tap to sync now'. At the bottom of the screen there is a 'Remove Account' button but if I tap this it says the account is required by some applications and I can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults !

I've just tried deleting 'Gmail' from the applications, in case that would help but it refused to let me delete it. Bloody power hungry google.

Open Phone App-> Options-> Select phonebook-> uncheck Google; Check Phone
Google account is required, you can't activate the phone without it.

The closest I can get to that is Phone > Contacts > then I get a bit stuck. There's a button to 'Merge with Google', and I'm not sure if I want to tap that as I think it wont have any options, it'll just go ahead and do it. I've already started manually removing contacts put in by Google, so I dont want to find myself back at square 1 ! There's also a button to 'Sync Contacts' but I know that one doesnt have any options, it just goes ahead and does it.

I know this phone didnt need a google account to begin with, because it was working ok without one at the start.
