Reducing the Backlight Brightness and Backlight Timeout
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Then go to Settings -> tap My Device -> select Display -> Brightness -> check or uncheck Automatic Brightness, as desired.
- In case you didn’t select Automatic brightness, tap and drag the slider to the most comfortable level -> then tap OK.
- Now tap Screen timeout -> select the lowest comfortable setting (15 seconds, 30 seconds, etc).
Changing from a Live Wallpaper to a Regular Wallpaper

Turning Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC Off
Leaving Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS On at all times will drain your battery life, so it’s best to turn these settings off when not actively using them.

- From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Go to Settings -> toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC sliders to OFF.
- Then tap Wi-Fi -> tap Smart Mode -> and make sure to turn Smart Mode ON. By enabling this feature, your smartphone will remember the locations where you spent most time on Wi-Fi and will automatically turn Wi-Fi On when near to those locations.

- From the Home screen, drag down the Notification bar.
- Tap the GPS icon to disable it.
Stopping Running Background Apps
- From the Home screen, press and hold the Home key.
- To close an app, tap and drag the desired one to the left or right.
- If you want to close all apps, tap the Task Manager icon located at the bottom left corner of the screen -> tap End all located next to Active applications.
Syncing Less Often
Setting your Samsung Galaxy S4 to sync less often will help preserve its battery life.
- From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Go to Settings -> tap Accounts -> select the desired account (Google, Dropbox, etc) -> then tap the account you wish to sync less often -> now tap to check or uncheck the desired synching options.
Turning Vibrate Notifications Off

- Go to Settings -> then tap My device -> select Sound -> now tap to uncheck Vibrate when ringing if you want to turn off vibrate for ringtones and notifications.
- If you want to turn off vibrate for the entire system, tap to uncheck Haptic feedback.
Enabling Power Saving Mode
