Updating the Data Profile:

  1. While viewing the Home screen, tap the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Scroll to and tap "System Update"
  4. Select "Update Profile"
  5. Once you get the "Attention" pop-up, tap "OK". Note: in certain situations, your handset may reboot after updating the data profile

Checking for Software Updates:

To check whether or not a new software update has been released OTA (over-the-air):

  1. From one of the home screens, press the "Menu" button on your device
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to and select "System Update"
  4. Select "Update Firmware"
  5. If a system update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the new OS. If no update is available, you will be prompted with a pop-up window. Press "OK"
  6. Tap "Update Samsung Software" in the "System Update" window
  7. Press "Check now". Once again, if a new version is available, follow the on-screen instructions to apply it

Checking the Amount of Free Memory:

  1. While viewing a home screen, press the "Menu" key on your device
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Tap "Storage" and view the amount of free memory and other details

Clearing the Browser Cache, History and Cookies:

  1. Tap the "Internet" icon located on the home screen. (Note: if missing, you can find the "Internet" application in the "Apps" list)
  2. Press the "Menu" button on your handset
  3. Go to "Settings"
  4. Tap "Privacy and security"
  5. Select "Clear cache" then tap "OK"
  6. Tap "Clear history" and then press "OK"
  7. Scroll down to and tap "Clear all cookie data"
  8. Tap "OK" to confirm

Transferring Media Files on Your PC:

  1. Connect your handset to your computer using the USB cable that came with your smartphone
  2. On your computer, double-click "Open device to view files" in the AutoPlay window. (Note: if the AutoPlay window does not appear, click "Start" > "Computer" and double-click your phone under "Portable Devices")
  3. You will see two storage devices, one representing the SD card, while the other the phone's internal storage. Double click to access the one that you desire
  4. Browse through the folders and copy the content that you wish to back up on your computer (such as personal photos, videos or audio files)
  5. Paste the content in the desired location on your computer
  6. Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from your PC
