Restoring Applications:

  1. Sign in with your Google account on your smartphone, if necessary
  2. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Access the "Accounts" tab
  5. Tap "Google" and then tap "Sync all"
  6. Press "Back" and tap "Backup and reset"
  7. Mark / clear the check boxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Backup my data"

Contact Restore

Restoring Contacts From the SD Card:

  1. Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
  2. Open the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Import / Export"
  4. Select "Import from SD card"
  5. Select an account, and tap "Import vCard file"
  6. Tap "OK", select the desired VCF file and then tap "OK" again

Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" and access the "Accounts" tab
  3. Select either "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the type of account used when the backup has been created
  4. Tap the "email address" at the top of the screen
  5. Mark the "Sync contacts" check box. If the box is already ticked, tap "Sync now" instead

Restoring Media Files

Restoring Media Files from the SD Card:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Tap "My Files" > "All files" > "SD card"
  3. Navigate to where the media files are backed up
  4. Tap and hold the file that you wish to restore, and tap "Move"
  5. The device will show the available memory locations. To move the file to a different location, tap "Create new" or tap the folder name
  6. Tap "Move here"

Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a connection between your Galaxy SIII Slim and your computer via USB
  2. On the smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device" check box
  4. On the computer, an AutoPlay window should appear. From there, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Open a new Windows Explorer window, and go to the location where the files are backed up on your PC
  6. Copy the desired files, switch to the first Windows Explorer window and paste the files on your phone's memory. NOTE: the "Phone" icon represents your handset's internal memory. The "Card" icon represents the external memory / SD card
  7. Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC

Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your Mac
  2. Drag the "Status" bar down on the handset, and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. From Kies' main screen, click the "Back up / restore" tab
  5. Click the "Restore" tab
  6. Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music", or any other file types that you would like to restore. Optionally, you can click "Select all items" to restore all the files
  7. Click "Restore"
  8. Follow any additional prompts if necessary. Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your handset from the Mac
