WARNING! Applying a master reset on your smartphone will return it to factory settings. All personal data stored on the internal memory will be deleted! This includes downloaded content, contacts, third party applications, images, custom ringtones etc. A master reset will not delete data stored on the SIM or SD card.

Applying a Master Reset via the Settings Menu:

  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "Accounts" tab
  4. Tap "Backup and reset" under "Backup options"
  5. Optionally, clear the checkboxes next to "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  7. In case your phone is protected by a screen lock, you'll need to enter the PIN or password and tap "Continue"
  8. Tap "Delete all" to confirm

Master Resetting Using Hardware Keys (Recovery Menu):

NOTE: Use this method of factory resetting if your phone freezes, crashes or otherwise prevents you from resetting it from the settings menu.

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Home", "Volume Up" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep holding the other two pressed
  4. After the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release the "Home" and "Volume Up" keys as well
  5. From the Recovery menu, use the "Volume down" key to navigate to and highlight "wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press "Power" to confirm the highlighted options
  7. Navigate to "Delete all user data" using the "Volume down" key
  8. Press the "Power" key to begin the master reset
  9. Once the process is complete, "Reboot system now" will be highlighted
  10. Lastly, press "Power" to reboot your smartphone in normal mode
