Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts:

iTunes can be used to sync the contacts from an iPhone with a Google account. By doing so, you can easily transfer the contacts over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. For this approach you need a computer with Internet connection and iTunes installed. NOTE: if necessary, you can download the iTunes client from Apple's official website.

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect your iPhone to the computer
  3. Once connected, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click it to open the smartphone's summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  6. Enter your Google account's login credentials. If you've added an account in iTunes before, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account
  7. Click "Apply" to commence the syncing process
  8. Once done, register the same Google account on the Galaxy S5 Active. NOTE: to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Allow the account to sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Transferring Contacts using iCloud:

In case you have used the iCloud service on your iPhone prior to following this guide, chances are that your contacts have already been backed up on your iCloud account. You can export your contacts in the form of a vCard file, by accessing your account using a computer hooked up to the Internet. To perform this method:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and go to https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account and click "Contacts"
  3. From the list, mark the contacts that you want to export
  4. Click the icon shaped like a cog wheel, located in the lower-left side, and select "Export vCard"
  5. Wait for your computer to download the VCF file containing the previously selected contacts
  6. Once downloaded, import the file to Google Contacts. As an alternative, you can also connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to your computer via USB, and copy the file in the "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "People" app and press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card". Select an account if required, and load the vCard file

Transferring Contacts via "My Contacts Backup":

"My Contacts Backup" is an iOS application that can be used in order to transfer the contacts from your iPhone without accessing a computer. The app can back up the contacts in a VCF file, which can then be sent to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active via email.

  1. Launch the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Open the application
  3. Tap "Backup" and wait for the file to be created
  4. Once done, tap "Email" to attach the file to a new email
  5. In the "To" field, enter your own Gmail address
  6. Send the email, and open it from the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active
  7. Download the attachment on your Android device, and use the "People" app and "Import / Export" to transfer the contacts to your phonebook

Using "Send Anywhere" for Contact Transfer:

"Send Anywhere" is an iOS and Android application that can be used to transfer files cross-platform through a P2P connection. As such, a computer is not required for this method.

  1. Go to the Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on the S5 Active
  2. Visit the App Store and install the same app on your iPhone
  3. Open the application on both smartphones
  4. Switch over to the iPhone and tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Select the contacts that you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
  6. Finally, select the desired method of transfer. By tapping "Generate QR Code" you can create a code that can be scanned with the SGS5 Active's camera. You can also tap "Receive" on the S5 Active, and enter the transfer code from the iPhone to commence the contact transfer
