Enabling Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "System" and then tap "Power saving" > "Power saving mode"
  4. Tap the switch associated with "Power Saving Mode" and set it to "ON"
  5. Customize how the saving mode works, by enabling or disabling features such as "CPU performance", "Grayscale mode" etc.

Enabling Ultra Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "Power saving" > "Ultra Power saving mode"
  4. Tap the switch to set it to "ON" and enable the feature
  5. Choose the applications that you wish to work under Ultra Power saving mode. You can tap "+" to add more apps to the list
  6. To disable Ultra Power saving mode, press "Menu" and tap "Disable ultra power saving mode"
  7. Tap "OK" to confirm

Decreasing the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Display"
  3. Tap "Brightness" and then clear the check box associated with "Automatic brightness"
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left and tap "OK"
  5. Go to "Screen timeout"
  6. Select a lower timeout duration, such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HotSpot and GPS:

NOTE: it's highly recommended that you disable all connectivity features when not in use. This can greatly improve your phone's battery life.

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll down to "network Connections" and then tap "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"
  3. Touch the hotspot switch and set it to "Off"
  4. Swipe the "Status" bar down
  5. Tap the "Wi-Fi", "Location" and "Bluetooth" tiles to disable hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth. (NOTE: a grayed out tile means the feature is turned off)

Changing the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on a home screen
  2. Access "Settings" and scroll to "User and Backup"
  3. Tap "Accounts" and go to the "Accounts" tab
  4. Select an account type
  5. For each account type, adjust the available sync settings
  6. To adjust more sync settings, tap your "user name" or "email address" at the top of the screen

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to the "Settings" menu
  3. Swipe to "Network connections" and then tap "Data usage"
  4. Press the "Menu" key and then mark the check box next to "Restrict background data"

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: even though you may not use certain apps, installed applications can still affect your phone's battery life, as they can run processes in the background. As such, it's recommended that you disable or remove applications that you don't really use:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access the phone's "settings" menu
  3. Scroll to "Applications" and tap "Application manager"
  4. Access the "Downloaded" tab
  5. Select the desired application
  6. To turn off the app, tap "Disable". To completely remove the app, tap "Uninstall"

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "More networks" under "network Connections"
  3. Tap "Mobile network" > "Network mode"
  4. Tap "GSM only" in order to restrict your connection to 2G
  5. To switch back to 4G/LTE, tap "LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)" or "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)"

Keeping Your Phone Up to Date:

NOTE: Manufacturers oftentimes release new software updates that can improve your phone's battery life. As such, it's recommended that you keep your phone up to date. NOTE: if no update is available for download, then following the steps below will have no effect on your phone's battery performance.

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "About device" under "System"
  4. Tap "Software update"
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it
