Restoring Applications:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account, depending on what type of account contains your backup
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and then tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google" and touch your "email address" located at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync all"
- Press "Back" to return to the "User and Backup" menu
- Touch "Backup and reset"
- Mark / clear the check boxes next to "back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts
Restoring Contacts from a Samsung or Google Account:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and then go to "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google", depending on the type of account used for the initial backup
- Tap your "email address" at the upper side of the screen
- Mark the "Sync Contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Launch the "Contacts" app
- Access the "Contacts" tab
- Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export"
- Select to "Import from SD card"
- Select an account and load the VCF backup file
Restoring Media
Restoring Media Files from the Phone's Storage:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch "My Files" and tap "All files" > "SD card"
- Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the folders and / or files that you want to restore
- Press "Menu" and then tap "Move"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Navigate to where you wish to restore the files and tap "Move here"
- You can tap "Create folder" in order to move the files to a different location
Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini to your computer via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "media device (MTP)" check box
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and go to where the files are backed up on your PC's hard drive
- Copy the desired files and transfer them to the "Card" or "Phone" directories on your smartphone
- Once the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone by clicking the "Mass storage device" icon from the system ray
Restoring Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect your Galaxy S5 Mini to your Mac using the USB cable
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and then tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to the "Back up / Restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes next to "Music" and "Photo". NOTE: if you wish to restore all of your media files, mark the "Select all items" check box
- When you're ready, click "Restore" and if necessary, follow any additional on-screen prompts to complete the process
- Once the data has been restored, safely disconnect your smartphone by ejecting the drive from the Mac's desktop
