Inserting the SD Card:

  1. With your smartphone turned off, remove the back cover
  2. Insert a SIM card if necessary, before attempting to fit the SD Card
  3. Next up, insert the SD card in its slot. The gold contacts should be facing down
  4. Refit the back cover and restart your device

Checking the Amount of Free Space on the SD:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "Storage" and view the "Available space" value under "SD Card"

Changing the Default Memory Storage Location for Apps

NOTE: the majority of pre-installed applications usually store data on the phone's internal storage, but for some of these apps, you can change the storage location and set it to SD card / external

Changing the Storage Settings for the "Camera" App:

  1. Launch the "Camera" application
  2. Tap the "Settings" button and go to "Storage"
  3. Select "Memory Card" and the app will store data on the SD card

Changing the Storage Settings for the "Voice Recorder":

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Voice recorder"
  3. Open the app's "Settings" menu
  4. Go to "Storage" and select "Memory Card"

Changing the Storage Settings for the "Internet" App:

  1. Launch the "Internet" application
  2. Press "Menu" and go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "Advanced" > "Content settings"
  4. Tap "Default storage" and set the app to use the "SD Card"

Changing the Storage Settings for the DLNA (Nearby Devices):

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Go to "Connect and Share", and tap "Nearby Devices"
  4. Set the "Nearby Devices" switch to "ON"
  5. Lastly, tap "Download to" and select "SD card"

Opening or Deleting Files from the SD Card

Deleting Files Using the Smartphone:

  1. Launch the apps drawer and open the "My Files" app
  2. Tap "Local storage" > "SD card"
  3. Tap "SD memory card" and press "Menu"
  4. Tap "Select", and mark the check boxes next to the content type you wish to delete
  5. Mark the files / folders you wish to delete and tap "Done"
  6. Tap "OK" and you're set

Opening or Deleting Files Stored on the SD Card via a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 to your PC via USB
  2. While on the home screen, drag the "Status" bar down
  3. From the notification area, tap "USB connected" > "Connect USB storage"
  4. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click to "Open folder to view files"
  5. Access the "Card" directory on your device
  6. Navigate to the desired files and view / delete them
  7. After you're done, tap "Disconnect storage from PC"

Opening or Deleting Files Stored on the SD Card via a Mac Computer:

NOTE: The first 2 steps should be skipped if Kies is already installed on your computer

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac and visit Kies
  2. From there, click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on your computer
  3. Using the USB cable, connect the Star 2 to your Mac
  4. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar and tap "Connected as a media device"
  5. If necessary, mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  6. On the Mac, launch Kies and wait for the Star 2 to appear under "Connected devices"
  7. From Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "External memory", and navigate to the desired files stored on the Star 2's SD card
  8. Double click to open a file, or mark it and click the "Trash Can" icon to remove it
  9. After you're done, click the "Samsung Galaxy Star 2" drive on the Mac's desktop and safely disconnect your device

Transferring Files From / To the SD Card

Transferring Files from the SD Card to the Phone's Storage:

  1. Go to the apps drawer and launch "My Files"
  2. Go to "Local storage" > "SD card"
  3. Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to where the desired files / folders are
  4. Mark the check boxes next to the files / folders you wish to transfer
  5. Press "Menu" and select to "Move" or "Copy" the files
  6. Tap "Device storage" and navigate to where the files should be transferred
  7. Once there, tap "Move here" or "Paste here"

Transferring Files from the Phone's Storage to the SD Card:

  1. Open the "My Files" app and swipe to "Local storage"
  2. Tap "Device storage" and locate the files stored on the internal memory
  3. Mark the check boxes next to the files and folders you wish to transfer
  4. Tap "Menu" and select to "Move" or "Copy" the files
  5. Tap "SD memory card" and navigate to where the files should be transferred
  6. Tap "Paste here" or "Move here"
