Using a Google Account:

NOTE: Using the phone's settings menu you can sync the contacts from your Galaxy SIII with a Google account. Once that's done, the contacts can be re-synced with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, as explained below:

  1. On the SGSIII, sign in with your Google account
  2. Press "Menu" from the home screen and tap "Settings"
  3. Go to "My accounts" and tap "Google"
  4. Touch the "user name" or "email address" at the top of the screen
  5. Mark the "Sync Contacts" check box or tap "Sync now"
  6. On the Galaxy S5 Plus, register the same Google account
  7. Go to "Settings", swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  8. Press "Menu" and select "Sync all"

Using the Default "Contacts" App:

NOTE: Using the "Contacts" app available on both Samsung smartphones, you can export the contacts stored on the Galaxy SIII in the form of a VCF file, which can then be transferred to and imported on the Galaxy S5 Plus.

  1. Launch the "Contacts" app on the SGSIII
  2. Go to the "Contacts" tab and press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  4. Press "Menu" again and tap "Import / Export"
  5. Select to "Export to SD card" and remember the file's name for future use before tapping "OK"
  6. On the SIII, open the email client and compose a new email
  7. Attach the VCF file to the email and send it to your own Gmail address
  8. On the Galaxy S5 Plus, open the email and download the attached VCF file
  9. Launch the "Contacts" app
  10. Press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export" > "Import from SD Card" or "Import from storage"
  11. Select an account if necessary, and follow any additional steps that may follow

NOTE: Once the VCF file has been created on the Samsung Galaxy SIII, you can transfer it to the Galaxy S5 Plus by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and manually transferring the vCard file from one phone's storage to the other. Then, on the Galaxy S5 Plus, open the "Contacts" app and import the VCF file as explained above

Using "Send Anywhere":

NOTE: If you're looking for third party apps that can transfer contacts between phones, then "Send Anywhere" might help. This is an application that uses a P2P connection to transfer contacts and various other types of files.

  1. Go to the Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on your Samsung smartphones
  2. Launch the app on both handsets
  3. From the Galaxy SIII, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Select the contacts you want to share and tap "Send"
  5. Finally, choose a method of transfer. Tapping "Generate QR Code" allows you to create a QR Code which can be scanned with the S5 Plus's camera to begin the transfer. Tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy S5 Plus allows you to start the transfer by entering the randomly generated code from the SIII
