Restoring Applications:

  1. Sign in with your Samsung or Google account, depending on which one you used for the backup
  2. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Tap "Google" or "Samsung"
  5. Tap your email address at the top of the screen and press "Sync All"
  6. Press the "Back" key twice to return to the "User and Backup" menu
  7. Tap "Backup and reset" and then check / uncheck the boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"

Restoring Contacts

From a Google or Samsung Account:

  1. Sign in with your Google or Samsung account if necessary (the one used for the initial backup)
  2. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
  4. Tap "Google" or "Samsung" and touch the "email address" at the top of the screen
  5. If necessary, mark the "Sync contacts" check box
  6. Tap "Sync now"

From the SD Card:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Contacts"
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
  4. Choose to "Import / Export" and then tap "Import from SD Card"
  5. If necessary, select an account and follow the on-screen steps to import the VCF file to your phonebook

Restoring Media Files

From the SD Card:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Launch "My Files"
  3. Tap "All files" > "SD Card"
  4. Tap the "Menu" icon in the top-right corner of the screen
  5. Tap "Select" and mark the check boxes associated with the files you wish to restore
  6. Tap the "Menu" icon again and select "Move"
  7. Tap "Device storage" and tap "Move here"
  8. To move the files in a different location on your phone, tap the folder name or tap "Create Folder", and tap "Move here" when ready

From a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and tap the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  3. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to "Open device to view files"
  4. Navigate to where you wish to restore the files on your phone
  5. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the location of the backed up files
  6. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone
  7. After the transfer is done, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon in the system tray and safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Using a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If necessary, visit Kies, click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your Mac.

  1. Connect the Galaxy Note Edge to your Mac using the USB cable
  2. Swipe the "Status" bar down and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  3. Launch Kies on your computer and click the "Back up / restore" tab
  4. Click the "Restore" tab if necessary
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo" and any other types of media files you wish to restore
  6. Click "Restore" and if necessary, follow any additional prompts to complete the process
  7. When done, eject the phone's storage from the Mac's desktop and safely disconnect the device
