My Samsung Galaxy S2 worked perfectly up until a week ago. I installed a new, very large app on my phone and it started getting too hot and turning off. So I uninstalled the app, and a few others, but it kept getting worse. Now, it only turns on when plugged in, and only for about 5 seconds at a time before shutting off. However it still shows the battery charging screen (black screen, full green charging battery) when plugged in.
It doesn't even stay on long enough to go to 'settings' or do anything.
Any ideas? Should I buy a new battery? Or is there any way to recover my photos if the phone has no chance?
Thank you.

No, when plugged in it will turn on for about 5 seconds and then shut down. What could it possibly be if not the battery?
Thanks for your reply!
