Using a Google Account:

NOTE: You can transfer the contacts stored on your SGSIII by first syncing them with your Google account. Once that's done, you can sign in with the same account on the Mega 2, and resync the contacts. To do so:

  1. Sign in with your Google account on the SGSIII
  2. From the home screen, press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
  3. Access "My Accounts" and tap "Google"
  4. Tap the "user name" or "email address" at the top of the screen
  5. Mark the "Sync Contacts" check box and tap "Sync now"
  6. Switch to the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 and register the same Google account
  7. Access the phone's "Settings" menu and go to "User and Backup"
  8. Tap "Accounts"
  9. Press "Menu" and lastly, tap "Sync all"

Using the Proprietary "Contacts" Application:

NOTE: Using the pre-loaded "Contacts" app available on both smartphones, you can export the contacts from the Galaxy SIII as a vCard file. The file can then be transferred to the Galaxy Mega 2, and imported to the phonebook via the Contacts app

  1. Launch "Contacts" on the Galaxy SIII
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
  4. Press "Menu" again and choose to "Import / Export"
  5. Tap "Export to SD card". Make sure you remember the file name for future use before pressing "OK"
  6. Open the email client on the Galaxy SIII and start composing a new email
  7. Attach the exported vCard file to the email
  8. Send the email to your Gmail address
  9. Switch to the Galaxy Mega 2 and open the email containing the attached file
  10. Download the file and then open the "Contacts" app
  11. Press the "Menu" button and select "Import / Export"
  12. Select to "Import from SD card" or "Import from storage", depending on the location of the downloaded file
  13. Browse for and select the VCF file to import its contents

NOTE: After you have created the VCF file on the Galaxy SIII, you can transfer it to the Mega 2 manually by connecting both devices to your computer via USB. Once you have copied the file to the Mega 2's storage, you can import its contents using the "Contacts" app, as explained above

Using "Send Anywhere":

NOTE: You can also use third party applications to transfer your contacts without the need of a computer. "Send Anywhere" is an app that uses a P2P connection to transfer contacts and other types of files from one phone to another, even cross-platform.

  1. Open the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both smartphones
  2. Launch the application on both Samsung devices
  3. On the Galaxy SIII, tap "Send" and select "Contacts"
  4. Mark the contacts you wish to share and tap "Send"
  5. Lastly, select the desired transfer method. Tapping "Receive" on the Mega 2 allows you to enter the transfer code that was randomly generated on the Galaxy SIII. Alternatively, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the SGSIII, and scan the code with the Mega 2's camera to commence the transfer
