WARNING! By master resetting your smartphone you will delete all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory, including media files, contacts, ringtones, apps, downloaded content etc. Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Access "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "User and Backup"
  4. Tap "Backup and reset"
  5. Optionally clear the check boxes associated with "Automatic restore" and "Back up my data"
  6. Tap "Factory data reset" > "Reset device"
  7. In case your smartphone is protected by a password / PIN / lock screen, enter the security credentials and tap "Continue"
  8. Tap "Delete all" to confirm the reset

Master Reset via Recovery (Hardware Buttons):

NOTE: Use this method of reset in case your phone crashes, freezes or it otherwise prevents you from applying the reset from the settings menu.

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold "Home", "Volume Up" and "Power" at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates once, release the "Power" key but keep holding the other two buttons pressed
  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release all hardware buttons
  5. From the recovery menu press "Volume Down" or up to navigate to, and highlight "Wipe data / factory reset"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  7. Next, navigate to "yes -- delete all user data" and press "Power"
  8. After the phone resets you will be prompted to "Reboot system now". Press "Power"
