Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Menu” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Access the “My Device” tab
  4. Tap the “Power saving mode” switch and set it to “ON”
  5. To customize how the mode works, tap “Power saving mode” (the text itself)
  6. Check / clear the boxes next to “CPU power saving”, “Screen power saving”, “Turn off haptic feedback” etc.

Lower the Screen Brightness & Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Under the “My device” tab, tap “Display”
  3. Tap “brightness” and disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left and tap “OK”
  5. Tap “Screen timeout” and choose a lower value like “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your accounts / apps to sync less data you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” and go to “Settings”
  2. Access the “Accounts” tab
  3. Under “My accounts”, select the desired account type
  4. Each account type offers a series of sync settings. Generally speaking, you should be able to clear check boxes associated with apps / services that sync data
  5. For more sync options, tap your “email address “or “user name” at the top of the screen

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity options when they are not in use, you can improve battery performance in the long run.

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Go to the “Connections” tab
  3. Tap “More networks” > “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
  4. Tap the Hotspot switch and set it to “OFF”
  5. Return to the home screen and drag the “Status” bar down
  6. Tap the quick toggles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “GPS” to disable these features

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Tap “Apps” > “Settings”
  2. From the “Connections” tab, tap “More networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  4. Select “GSM only” to disable 4G and restrict connectivity to 2G

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain 3rd party apps can affect battery performance even when you don’t use them, assuming they run regular processes in the background. As such you should disable or uninstall unused third party apps:

  1. Press “Menu” on the home screen
  2. Tap “Settings” > “More”
  3. Tap “Application manager”
  4. Swipe to the “Downloaded” screen and select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” or “Uninstall” > “OK”

Disable Background Data:

  1. From the “Settings” menu, tap the “Connections” tab
  2. Tap “Data usage”
  3. Press “Menu”
  4. Enable the “Restrict background data” option

Keep your OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can sometimes include improvements to power management and battery performance. As such you should keep your phone up to date, and to check for software updates you can perform the following:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. From the “More” tab, tap “About device”
  4. Tap “Software update”
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
