Using a Google Account:
NOTE: You can use your Google account to sync the contacts stored on the sender device, and then re-sync the data on the account with the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
- Launch the “Contacts” app on the Note 3 / S4
- If necessary, tap the “Contacts” tab
- Tap “Menu” > “Merge accounts” > “Merge with Google”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
- If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with your Google account
- Switch to the S6 Edge+ and if necessary, register the same Google account
- Set the account so that it can sync contacts with your device
Using the Default “Contacts” App:
NOTE: Using the “Contacts” app on both smartphones you can export and import your contacts from one phone to the other.
- Launch “Contacts” on the Note 3 / S4
- Access the “Contacts” tab
- If necessary, tap “menu” > “Contacts to display” > “All contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to SD card” and make sure you remember the file name for future use before tapping “OK”
- Open the email client and compose a new email with the exported file attached to it
- Send the email to your address
- Switch to the S6 Edge+ and open the email
- Download the attached file and use the “Import” option in the “Contacts” app to add the file’s contents to your phonebook
NOTE: After you create the vCard file on the Note 3 / S4, you can connect it and the S6 Edge+ to a computer and manually transfer it from one phone to the other. Then you can use the “Contacts” app as described above
Using the “Smart Switch” App:
NOTE: Using the official Smart Switch app from Samsung you can transfer contacts and other types of files from an older Samsung to a newer one.
- Visit the Google Play Store and install Samsung’s “Smart Switch” mobile app on both your smartphones
- Open the app on both handsets
- Select “Android device” on both terminals
- On the Note 3 / S4, select “Sending device”
- On the S6 Edge+, tap “Receiving device”
- Tap “Connect” on the “Sending device”
- Select “Contacts” and tap “Send”
- Tap “OK” on the S6 Edge+ and wait for the process to complete
NOTE: In order for Smart Switch to work properly, keep both phones in close proximity of each other.
Using “Send Anywhere”:
NOTE: Send Anywhere is a third party application that can be used to transfer contacts from one phone to another via a P2P connection, without needing a computer.
- Visit the Google Play Store and install “Send Anywhere” on both smartphones
- Open the app on both devices
- On the sender device, tap “Send” > “Contacts”
- Select the contacts you want to share and tap “Send”
- Lastly, select a transfer method. You can tap “Receive” on the S6 Edge+ and enter the code generated on the sender device, or trap “Generate QR Code” on the Note 3 / S4 and scan the code with the Edge+’s camera
