Back Up App Data:
- Open Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Backup and reset under User and Backup
- If necessary, tap Backup account > Add account and sign in with your Google account
- Enable Backup account and Backup my data
Back Up Contacts Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open Contacts
- Tap More > Settings
- Tap Move device contacts to, and if necessary, select a Google or Samsung account
- Return to the home screen and go to Settings
- Tap Accounts and select the account you want to sync contacts with
- Tap More > Sync now
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy J5 to your computer via USB
- Drag the Status bar down and ensure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- On the computer, open an Explorer window and locate the media files on your phone
- Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac, skip the first 3 steps.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac to download and install Kies
- Connect the Galaxy J5 to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the notification bar down and make sure the phone is connected as a Media device (MTP)
- Open Kies on the Mac and inside Kies, click Back up / restore
- Access the Backup tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Music, Photos and other types of media files you want to back up
- Click Backup
- Once the process is done, drag the phones virtual drive to the trash can and safely disconnect the device
