Enable Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” and set the slider to “ON”
  5. Choose the battery percentage at which power saving mode enables automatically

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use (including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
  3. Tap the Hotspot switch to disable the feature
  4. Return to the home screen
  5. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  6. Tap the tiles associated with “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Location” (GPS) to disable these features

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
  4. From the “Display” menu, disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness

Disable Background Data:

  1. Launch the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Tap “Data usage” > “More”
  4. Tap “Restrict background data” > “OK”

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “More connection settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  4. Select “GSM only” to limit connectivity to 2G

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when you don’t use them, assuming that the apps run regular tasks in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Applications” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Application manager” and swipe to “Download”
  4. Select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  6. To completely remove the application, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Clear the tick boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. When ready, tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so you should keep your OS updated at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
