Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode and set the slider to ON
- Choose the battery percentage at which power saving mode enables automatically
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use (including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap Tethering & Mobile hotspot
- Tap the Hotspot switch to disable the feature
- Return to the home screen
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the tiles associated with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS) to disable these features
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
- From the Display menu, disable Automatic brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
Disable Background Data:
- Launch the Settings menu
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data > OK
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only to limit connectivity to 2G
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phones battery life even when you dont use them, assuming that the apps run regular tasks in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Open Settings
- Tap Applications under Device
- Tap Application manager and swipe to Download
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To completely remove the application, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select the desired account
- Clear the tick boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- When ready, tap Menu > Sync now
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so you should keep your OS updated at all times. To check for new updates:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to System and tap About device
- Tap System updates
- Assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
