Back Up Application Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to User and Backup and tap Backup and reset
- Sign in with your Google account, if necessary. Tap Backup account > Add account
- If needed, tap to enable Backup my data and Backup account
Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- Ensure that the SD card is installed
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Contacts under Applications
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display > All contacts
- Tap Import / Export > Export to SD card
- Tap OK
Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:
- On the home screen, tap Contacts
- Tap Menu > Merge accounts
- Select Google or Samsung account
- Tap OK and the contacts on your phone will be synced with the selected account
Back Up Media Files
On the SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch My Files
- Scroll to Local storage and tap Device storage
- Tap Menu > Select
- Locate the desired media items and select their check boxes
- Tap Menu > Copy > SD card"
- Navigate to the desired backup folder and tap Paste here
On a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy A7 to your PC via USB
- Drag the Status bar down and connect the phone as a Media device (MTP)
- Launch an Explorer window on the computer
- Navigate to the phone storage and locate the desired media files
- Copy the files and transfer them in the backup location on your computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB
On a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac, skip the first 3 steps.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and install Kies on your computer
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy A7 and computer
- Open Kies on the Mac and click the Back up / restore tab
- Click Backup
- Check the boxes next to Music, Photos, and other types of media files you want to back up
- Click Backup and wait for the process to complete
- Once done, drag the phones virtual drive into the Trash can, and safely disconnect the device from the USB
