Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset
  4. To back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and app data to your account, turn on “Back up my data
  5. Turn on “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be automatically restored when signing in with your backup account

Back Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Tap “Contacts” on the home screen
  2. Tap “More
  3. Go to “Settings
  4. To save any contacts that have not been saved on your Google or Samsung account before, tap “move device contact to
  5. Go back to “Settings
  6. Tap “Accounts” and select an account
  7. Tap “More” > “Sync now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method will be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Samsung / Google backup account

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Open the Internet browser on the computer
  2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
  3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC
  4. Install Smart Switch on the computer
  5. Connect the Galaxy C7 to your computer via USB
  6. When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the notification area
  7. Open the File Explorer on the PC
  8. Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
  9. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer storage
  10. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Follow the first 6 steps above
  2. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  3. Locate the media files backed up on the PC
  4. Copy the backup files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
  6. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Head down to Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Samsung Galaxy C7 to your Mac via USB
  5. At the prompt, enable “Media device (MTP)”, or turn on the option from the “Notification” area
  6. Open Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / restore” tab
  7. Click “Backup
  8. Check the boxes associated with “Photo”, “Music”, and other types of media files you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to start
  10. After the backup file is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the “trash can
  11. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Follow the first 6 steps above
  2. Access the “Restore” tab in Kies
  3. Tick the check boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos”, and other media file types you want to restore
  4. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts
  5. Once the restore is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the “Trash can
  6. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
