Back Up App Data:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
- To back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and app data to your account, turn on “Back up my data”
- Turn on “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be automatically restored when signing in with your backup account
Back Up Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:
- Tap “Contacts” on the home screen
- Tap “More”
- Go to “Settings”
- To save any contacts that have not been saved on your Google or Samsung account before, tap “move device contact to”
- Go back to “Settings”
- Tap “Accounts” and select an account
- Tap “More” > “Sync now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method will be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Samsung / Google backup account
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Open the Internet browser on the computer
- Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
- Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC”
- Install Smart Switch on the computer
- Connect the Galaxy C7 to your computer via USB
- When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the PC
- Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer storage
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Follow the first 6 steps above
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files backed up on the PC
- Copy the backup files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
- You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy C7 to your Mac via USB
- At the prompt, enable “Media device (MTP)”, or turn on the option from the “Notification” area
- Open Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / restore” tab
- Click “Backup”
- Check the boxes associated with “Photo”, “Music”, and other types of media files you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to start
- After the backup file is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the “trash can”
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Follow the first 6 steps above
- Access the “Restore” tab in Kies
- Tick the check boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos”, and other media file types you want to restore
- Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts
- Once the restore is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the “Trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
