Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & Reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and app data to your account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:
- Open Contacts
- Tap More
- Access Settings
- If you have contacts that havent been saved on your Samsung or Google account, tap move device contacts to
- Access Settings and tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Tap More > Sync now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method will be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google / Samsung backup account
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Launch the Internet browser on the computer
- Head down to Samsung Smart Switch?
- Click Samsung Smart Switch for PC
- Install Smart Switch on the computer and connect the Galaxy C5 via USB
- At the prompt, enable Media device (MTP) or enable the option from the Notification area
- On the computer, launch the File Explorer
- Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Follow the first 5 steps above
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups
- Copy the backup files and paste them on the phone, preferably in the Media directory
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and follow the on-screen steps to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy C5 to your computer via USB
- When prompted, enable Media device (MTP), otherwise enable the option from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access the Back up / restore tab and click Backup
- Check the tick boxes next to Music, Photos, and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the process
- Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the Trash can
- You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Follow steps 1-through-6 above
- Click Back up / restore and go to Restore
- Check the boxes next to Music, Photos, and other media file types you want to restore
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
- Once done, drag and drop the phones virtual drive from the desktop and into the trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
