Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and app data to your account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account

Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Tap “More”
  3. Access “Settings”
  4. If you have contacts that haven’t been saved on your Samsung or Google account, tap “move device contacts to”
  5. Access “Settings” and tap “Accounts”
  6. Select an account
  7. Tap “More” > “Sync now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method will be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google / Samsung backup account

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
  2. Head down to Samsung Smart Switch?
  3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC”
  4. Install Smart Switch on the computer and connect the Galaxy C5 via USB
  5. At the prompt, enable “Media device (MTP)” or enable the option from the “Notification” area
  6. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  7. Locate the media files on the phone and copy them
  8. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
  9. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Follow the first 5 steps above
  2. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups
  3. Copy the backup files and paste them on the phone, preferably in the “Media” directory
  4. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and follow the on-screen steps to download and install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Galaxy C5 to your computer via USB
  5. When prompted, enable “Media device (MTP)”, otherwise enable the option from the “Notification” area
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac
  7. Access the “Back up / restore” tab and click “Backup”
  8. Check the tick boxes next to “Music”, “Photos”, and other media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
  10. Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it in the “Trash can”
  11. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Follow steps 1-through-6 above
  2. Click “Back up / restore” and go to “Restore”
  3. Check the boxes next to “Music”, “Photos”, and other media file types you want to restore
  4. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
  5. Once done, drag and drop the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and into the “trash can” to eject it
  6. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB
