NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up app data, contacts, and media files on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- If necessary, sign in with the Google account used for the initial backup
- Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Under “User and Backup”, tap “Accounts”
- Select “Google” and tap your “user name” or “email address” at the top
- Ensure “Contacts” is selected
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”
Restore Contacts from Storage / SD Card:
- If you’re planning to restore contacts from SD, make sure the proper microSD card is fitted
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “Settings”
- Under “Device”, tap “Applications”
- Go to “Contacts”
- Select “Import” and choose “Storage” or “SD Card”, depending on the backup location
- Select to import (restore) multiple or a single vCard
- If necessary, select the vCard you want to restore
- Choose to restore the vCard on “Device storage” or to sync the contacts with “Google”
Restore Media Files from an SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “My Files”
- Tap “SD Card” under “Local storage”
- Tap “More” > “Edit”
- Check the boxes next to the media files you want to restore
- Tap “More” > “Move”
- Select “Device storage”
- Tap “Create folder” or navigate to the desired target folder
- Tap “Move here” to restore the files
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” from the pop-up or from the “Notification” area
- On the computer, launch the File Explorer
- Locate the media files backed up on the computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
- Enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- On the Mac, launch Kies
- Inside Kies, click the “Back up / restore” tab
- Access the “Restore” tab
- Tick the boxes next to “Photos”, “Music”, and other media file types you want to restore (or tap “Select all”)
- Click “Restore” and, if necessary, follow any on-screen prompts that may follow
- After the process is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging > dropping the virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
