WARNING! When you factory reset the Samsung Galaxy On Nxt, all your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, apps, contacts, downloaded content, ringtones etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before you factory reset your device, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” and, optionally, enable “Restore” and “Back up my data
  4. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device
  5. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter the password / PIN to proceed
  6. Tap “Continue” > “Delete all” to confirm

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset your device through the “Settings” menu as detailed above, you can alternatively reset the phone from the Android System Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

  1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
  2. Then, press and hold “Power”, “Home” and “Volume Up” at the same time
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power
  4. At the Android screen, release “Volume Up” and “Home” too
  5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the Recovery menu and highlight “wipe data / factory reset
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Highlight “Yes – delete all user data” using “Volume down
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and reset the device

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After you have reset the phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. Launch the apps drawer and go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “System
  3. Tap “About device
  4. Check if a new OS update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install any available updates
